A substance abuse outpatient treatment program for people with the dual problems of mental illness and addiction to drugs and/or alcohol provides counseling and education for individuals and their families.

The focus is to treat the addiction and help the person abstain from mood-altering substances and to develop a high-quality and functional life.

ACT’s teams of clinicians are trained in addressing alcohol and drug issues.  Counselors, case managers and physicians come together to help each individual attain and maintain sobriety, while being guided through the recommended medication regimen that may be necessary to treat mental health problems.

Through group and individual counseling, often involving family members, we treat the dependency on drugs or alcohol as a primary disease.  Alcohol and drug abuse affect the individual and family members physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

After reaching sobriety, the person is encouraged to develop relapse prevention techniques that help support maintenance of sobriety. 

Counseling is also available in specialized groups focusing on trauma such as domestic or sexual abuse.  These groups are separated by gender to encourage open discussion.
